Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is stepping up its focus on rural markets, with an ambitious plan to increase their contribution to 30% of the company’s total vehicle sales over the next three to four years. HMIL Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg said rural markets currently account for 25.9% of the company’s overall sales.
Garg said Hyundai is also expanding its rural presence through its dealership network. Of every 10 new outlets being opened by the company, six are being established in rural markets. The strategy is aimed at strengthening Hyundai’s reach and sales in India’s rural regions.
