Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) expects its sales to reach 6 million units in the current financial year 2026–27. This would represent a 4.3% increase over the 5.75 million units sold in the previous financial year, according to company president and CEO Tsutsumu Otani. He said demand in India’s two-wheeler market remains strong with the start of the Navratri festive season. During the first half of FY27, Honda’s domestic sales grew 13.5% year-on-year to 3.04 million units, while its market share stood at 25%.
Scooters account for nearly 60% of Honda’s total sales, Otani said. To meet rising demand, HMSI plans to expand its annual production capacity from the current 6.5 million units to 8 million units by 2028. The company is looking to strengthen its position in India’s two-wheeler market as festive demand supports sales growth.
