The GST Council is set to discuss several key reforms at its meeting in New Delhi, with a focus on simplifying GST registration and compliance procedures. One of the proposals is aimed at making registration easier for small businesses selling their products through e-commerce platforms. If approved, the move could ease compliance for small online sellers operating across multiple states.
The Council is also expected to consider withdrawing the Integrated GST exemption currently available on gold, silver and platinum imports by banks and nominated agencies. Sources said the proposal may bring these imports under the three per cent IGST regime. The measures are part of broader efforts to simplify GST procedures while addressing issues related to trade and tax compliance.
