Gold in Venezuela costs just ₹1,816 per tola. The country is facing a severe economic crisis, with rising inflation and a devalued currency causing gold prices to drop significantly. Gold is mostly mined locally and sold at the exchange rate, unlike in India where gold is considerably expensive.
In India, the price of 24-carat gold is approximately ₹13,827 per gram. In Venezuela, the same purity gold costs only ₹181.65 in Indian currency, making gold there roughly equivalent to the price of a cup of tea or coffee in an Indian restaurant.
Indian customs allow residents returning from abroad after at least one year to bring gold duty-free. Under this rule, male travelers can bring up to 20 grams of gold, while female travelers can bring up to 40 grams. This exemption applies only to gold jewelry and does not cover gold bars or coins.
