Microsoft’s gaming division, Xbox, could face another round of job cuts, according to reports in the international media. The company is reportedly considering three rounds of layoffs as part of efforts to reduce expenses and improve the profitability of its gaming business. The potential cuts could take place this month, followed by November and January. However, the number of employees who may be affected remains unclear.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma is reportedly focusing on cost control and restructuring the business. The company’s earlier plans and investments have not delivered the expected results, prompting changes to how its game studios are managed. Studios such as Double Fine Productions and Compulsion Games have reportedly been moved to more independent operating structures. Meanwhile, speculation continues over the future of Ninja Theory, the studio known for the Hellblade franchise, with reports suggesting it could face closure. In July, Xbox announced plans to lay off 3,200 employees, highlighting the continuing pressure to streamline its gaming operations.
