Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) minimum pension hike proposal from ₹1000 to ₹3000 is under consideration by the central government. The move is being discussed in view of rising living and medical expenses, with pensioners and workers demanding early implementation. Around 82 lakh pensioners across the country are currently covered under this scheme.
If the hike is approved, low-income pensioners are expected to benefit the most, especially those receiving between ₹1000 and ₹2000 per month. Higher salary contributors may see limited impact as they already receive comparatively higher pension amounts. The proposal is still under review.
