The Central Government has appealed to citizens to reduce the usage of petrol and diesel amid rising global crude oil prices. Petroleum Ministry Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma advised people to use metro services, public transport, carpooling, and electric vehicles wherever possible. She said fuel conservation can help reduce the economic burden on the country.
The Centre also clarified that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in the country despite global supply concerns caused by tensions between the US and Iran. Refineries are operating at full capacity and fuel supplies remain stable. However, reports suggest that fuel price hikes may be considered soon as oil marketing companies continue to face heavy financial losses.
