Cement Prices May Rise by ₹5–20 per Bag in October: Centrum Broking Report

Cement companies in India may raise prices again in October, with a possible increase of ₹5–20 per bag, according to a Centrum Broking report. Cement prices had remained largely unchanged in July and August, but rose by an average of ₹7 per bag nationwide in September, taking the average price to around ₹356. Prices increased more sharply in southern markets, where the average rise was about ₹11 per bag. Rising fuel costs, which affect both cement production and transportation, are among the factors cited for the possible increase.

The report noted that continued construction activity could support cement demand despite rainfall affecting projects in some regions during September. In areas that received less rain, construction activity remained strong. Although companies have increased billing rates, some dealers have reportedly continued selling at older prices to meet sales targets, limiting the immediate impact on consumers. The extent of any October price hike is expected to depend on demand and dealer acceptance, with a ₹5–20 increase possible if market demand remains firm.
