Commuters in the National Capital Region faced another setback as CNG prices were increased by ₹2 per kg
due to rising global fuel costs. With the latest revision, the price of CNG in Delhi has reached ₹83.09 per kg, effective from 6 AM today.
This marks the third price hike in the last 11 days. Earlier increases were recorded on May 15 and May 23, leading to a cumulative rise of ₹5 per kg within a short span. The surge in global crude oil prices, driven by geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region, is cited as the main reason.
Since a large number of autos, taxis, and public transport vehicles run on CNG, transportation costs are expected to rise further. Experts warn that if global prices remain volatile, other cities may also see similar price hikes soon.
