Bill Gates Warns AI Could Eliminate Millions of Jobs

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has expressed concerns over the rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI), warning that the technology could permanently eliminate millions of jobs worldwide. In an interview with The New York Times, Gates said AI could eventually pose a serious threat to humanity and alleged that the technology industry is downplaying these risks because of the huge investments flowing into the sector.

Gates said AI is different from previous technological revolutions, where the number of new jobs created generally exceeded those lost. He suggested imposing a tax on AI use, describing it as a “token tax”, which could make replacing human workers with AI more expensive for companies. He also proposed reserving certain jobs exclusively for humans.
