Automobile companies are ramping up production and increasing dealer inventories to meet the expected surge in vehicle demand during the festive season. Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) had around 2.2 lakh pending bookings ahead of the season. The company has already started operations at two new production lines, increasing its production capacity by five lakh units, according to MSI Senior Executive Officer Partho Banerjee.
Hyundai India has prepared adequate inventory across its dealer network, said Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra has increased its utility vehicle and electric vehicle manufacturing capacity to 68,000 units per month to improve supplies and reduce waiting periods, according to Automotive Division CEO Nalinikanth Gollagunta. The companies expect the increased production and inventory levels to ensure timely vehicle availability as festive bookings rise.
