Amazon has introduced its next generation “Proteus” robot at its fulfilment centres in Europe. The company launched the robot on Thursday as part of its efforts to modernise warehouse operations and improve efficiency in handling physical tasks.
The Proteus robot is designed to assist employees by performing physically demanding work such as moving heavy carts and transporting goods over long distances. It can understand natural language commands, allowing workers to assign tasks in simple conversational language without any technical programming or interface.
Amazon said the robot can operate based on verbal instructions, functioning like a co-worker. The technology is part of the company’s broader plan to invest more than 10 billion euros in the coming years to expand and modernise its fulfilment network across Europe.
