The central government has announced a relief measure for domestic airline operators struggling under the burden of rising fuel costs. It has decided to reduce airport charges for aircraft landing and parking by 25 percent. The Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that this reduction will come into effect immediately and will remain applicable for a period of three months.
The government also clarified that the revenue loss incurred by airport operators due to this reduction will be compensated through future revisions in charges. It is estimated that domestic airlines could save around ₹400 crore during this three-month period as a result of this decision.
