Adani Green Energy has set a new benchmark by commissioning a massive energy storage system with a capacity of 3.37 GWh at Khavda in Gujarat. This project is now recognized as the world’s largest battery storage system built at a single location outside China. The company stated that the facility can supply uninterrupted power to nearly one million households.
The project was completed in just 10 months, marking a significant achievement. Initially, 1.37 GWh capacity was made operational in March, and the remaining capacity was later added to reach the full 3.37 GWh. According to Executive Director Sagar Adani, the system stores energy generated from solar and wind sources for use when required. Built with advanced lithium-ion battery technology, the project is expected to enhance energy self-reliance and sustainability while providing reliable and affordable electricity.
